Website Redesign in Madurai — Without Losing Your Google Rankings

4.8 338 Google ReviewsMadurai's Most Reviewed Digital Marketing AgencySince 2016

You already have a website. It looks dated, loads slowly, or simply stopped bringing enquiries. The worry is not the design — it is whether a rebuild will cost you the rankings you already have.

It is a fair worry, and it happens constantly. We redesign audit-first: measure what ranks, keep the URLs, redirect what changes, and improve rather than rewrite.

The Thing Nobody Warns You About

Most redesign disasters have the same cause, and it is not the design. It is that the new site quietly uses different page addresses, and nobody set up redirects. Google arrives at twenty pages it knew, finds nothing, and drops them.

The business sees a beautiful new website and, six weeks later, half the enquiries. By then the cause looks invisible. This is entirely preventable, and preventing it is most of what a proper redesign process is for.

Six Signs Your Website Needs Redesigning

Two or more of these and a redesign usually pays for itself. One on its own is often a repair, not a rebuild — and we will say so.

It breaks on a phone

Text too small to read, buttons too close to tap, a menu that will not open. Most of your visitors are on a mid-range Android — if it fails there, it fails.

It loads slowly

Over three seconds on mobile and a large share of visitors leave before seeing anything. Usually uncompressed images and bloated plugins, both fixable.

Enquiries have dropped

Nothing changed in your marketing but the phone rings less. Often a Google update rewarding faster, clearer sites — and yours slipped behind.

You cannot update it

Every text change means messaging a developer who may or may not reply. A site you cannot edit is a site that goes stale.

It is not secure

No padlock in the address bar, or browser warnings. Visitors see "Not secure" and leave, and Google ranks it lower.

It ranks for nothing

Search your own service plus "Madurai" and you are nowhere. Usually missing page structure and titles rather than anything exotic.

How We Redesign Without Losing Traffic

01
Step 01

Record what ranks now

Before touching anything we export current rankings, top pages and traffic sources. You cannot protect what you never measured.

02
Step 02

Full backup

A complete copy of the site and database, kept until you are happy. Nothing is deleted while the old version still matters.

03
Step 03

Keep the URLs

Every page that ranks keeps its address wherever possible. This one decision prevents most redesign traffic losses.

04
Step 04

Redirect what must change

Where a URL genuinely has to change, a 301 redirect points the old address at the new one so the ranking follows it.

05
Step 05

Improve, do not rewrite

Pages that already rank get improved, not replaced. Rewriting a ranking page from scratch is how businesses lose the traffic they were paying to protect.

06
Step 06

Watch for 30 days

After launch we monitor Search Console for crawl errors and ranking movement, and fix anything that slipped.

Redesign or Start Again?

Not every old website is worth saving, and not every one needs replacing.

Redesign, if…

Some pages already rank and bring enquiries

The content is accurate and worth keeping

The domain has years of history behind it

The problem is looks, speed or mobile

Build fresh, if…

The site ranks for nothing at all

The content is thin or plain wrong

It is built on something unmaintainable

The business itself has changed direction

Website Redesign FAQs

Will a website redesign hurt my Google rankings?+
It can, and that is the single biggest risk in a redesign. Rankings drop when URLs change without redirects, when page titles and headings are rewritten carelessly, or when content that was ranking is deleted. Done properly — recording rankings first, keeping URLs, redirecting what must change — a redesign should hold or improve your positions.
How do I know if my website needs a redesign?+
The usual signs are: it looks broken or cramped on a phone, it takes more than three seconds to load, you cannot update it yourself, enquiries have fallen without your marketing changing, or it was built more than five years ago. If two or more of those are true, a redesign usually pays for itself.
How much does a website redesign cost in Madurai?+
A redesign is priced like a new build, starting at ₹25,000 for a standard business site. Sometimes it costs less because your content and photos already exist. Occasionally we tell a business a redesign is not needed and a few targeted fixes will do — that quote is free either way.
How long does a website redesign take?+
Two to four weeks for a standard business site, four to eight for a larger one. A redesign has one extra step a new build does not: auditing what currently ranks so nothing valuable is lost. That audit adds a few days and prevents the most expensive mistake in the process.
Can you redesign my website without changing my domain or email?+
Yes. Your domain stays exactly as it is, and your email is untouched — the two are separate services even though they often sit with the same provider. We build the new site on a staging link first, then switch it over, usually with no visible downtime.
Will I lose my existing content and photos?+
No. We take a full backup of the current site before anything begins, and reuse whatever is still good. Pages that rank well are kept and improved rather than rewritten from scratch, because rewriting a page that already ranks is how businesses lose traffic in a redesign.
Can you redesign a website someone else built?+
Yes, that is most of our redesign work. We need admin access to the site and its hosting. If a previous developer holds those and will not release them, we can usually rebuild on your domain independently — but get the logins first if there is any chance of it.
Should I redesign or just build a new website?+
If the content and rankings are worth keeping, redesign and preserve them. If the site is tiny, ranks for nothing and the content is unusable, a fresh build is faster and cheaper. We tell you which after looking, and the honest answer is sometimes the cheaper one.
